Summer Camp Schedule

Week 1: June 2 - 5

Inspired by Nature

Elementary (Grades 3 - 5)

9:00am - 12:00pm

  • Two-Dimensional Art :  Campers will explore two-dimensional artists that incorporate natural materials. We will paint, collage, and hand-make paper to create original works inspired by nature. Dress for a mess!

  • Ceramics:  Join us as we explore the natural world around us to create our ceramic artworks.  We will compose artwork based on the animal world and have fun making outdoor decorations.  

Artist/Art History Connections will include:  Georgia O’Keefe, Andy Goldsworthy, Robert Smithson, “Circles in the Sand” and contemporary artists inspired by nature. 

Line, Textures, and Shapes

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

1:00 - 4:00pm

  • Two-Dimensional Art :  Expand your creative thinking with the potential of lines, textures, and shapes. How do artists use the elements of art in new and creative ways? Sign up to find out!

  • Ceramics: You will create functional projects for everyday use including a mug, bowl, and vase.  Using the Elements of Art, campers will apply their own designs and add decorative aspects to their functional artwork.  

Artist/Art History Connections will include:  Aboriginal, Native American and Maori Art, Kusama


Week 2: June 9 - 12

Utilitarian Objects

Elementary (Grades 3 - 5)

9:00am - 12:00pm

  • Two-Dimensional Art :  Explore the art of functional objects through woven textiles, jewelry, and drawing. All of these artworks are meant to be used outside of the art studio! 

  • Ceramics: Campers learn and utilize hand building techniques to create functional ceramic objects. After making connections to historical and contemporary artists, students will decorate their original works. 

    Artist/Art History Connections will include:  Faith Ringgold, Hilma af Klint, and Sonia Delauny 

Week 3: June 16 - 19

Hanging Out with Art

Elementary (Grades 3 - 5)

9:00am - 12:00pm

  • Two-Dimensional Art :  “Hang out” with modern masters like Basquiat, Picasso, and Kusama. Create works that are meant to be hung in a gallery!

  • Ceramics: These ceramics are meant to “hang out”!  Join us as we design and create name plates, hanging planters, and animal wind chimes. Bring your ideas and have your favorite animals in mind!

Artist/Art History Connections will include: Basquiat, Picasso, Kusama, Keith Haring, Matisse and Fauvism 

Tell Me a Story!

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

1:00 - 4:00pm

  • Two-Dimensional Art :  Art can come from your personal experience, your imagination, or the world around you. You will use paint, collage, and printmaking to tell your story!

  • Ceramics: Tell your own story or use a song, a movie, or a book. We will create artworks in ceramics showing your creativity and imagination, which will build on the styles of both modern and contemporary artists.  Bring your ideas and curiosity!

Artist/Art History Connections will include:  Romare Bearden, Faith Ringgold, Frida Kahlo, Norman Rockwell, Andrew Wyeth,  Judith F. Baca and Diego Rivera

Week 4: June 23 - 26

Introductory and Advanced Workshop

High School (Grades 9 - 12)

9:00am - 1:00pm

  • Advanced Workshop: Join us for an exciting high school workshop designed for students eager to enhance their skills, experiment with new art techniques, and elevate their art portfolios! This independent study program offers artists the opportunity to explore their chosen artwork or art medium in depth, with the guidance and support of our experienced art teachers. Through this immersive workshop, students will receive expert instruction and challenging feedback to spark new ideas and create intriguing artwork. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to take your artistic abilities to the next level!

  • Two-Dimensional Art :  This workshop will focus on drawing, painting, and design tailored for students to develop skills in central art techniques. This hands-on experience will not only teach drawing and painting skills but also allow freedom of personal expression. We are going to have a blast working with mixed media, paint, and canvas!

  • Ceramics: In the ceramics workshop, you will have the opportunity to create a hanging vase, experiment with proportion in a Pop Art project, craft a trinket box, and design your own mug or vase. This ceramics introduction will teach you the fundamentals of ceramics and, also, allow you to produce functional and stunning artworks. Get ready to get your hands dirty and have fun!
